Laois GAA 10k and 5k


Based in the heart of the Midlands, the Laois GAA 10k and 5K road run will take place on May 5th 2013.

We are aiming to attract people from all around the country as we plan on having a fantastic day. The route will take in some of Laois’ finest scenery and we promise it to be runner friendly, no matter what distance you decide to take in.

Located just off the M7 Motorway, the event will start in the O’Moore Park, Portlaoise area and it will also finish just outside the GAA Ground. Parking and warm-up facilities will be available in the adjoining Portlaoise GAA Ground.

Upon completion of the race each runner will recieve bottled water, fruit and a unique t-shirt. All runners will then be available of the shower facilities in O’Moore Park GAA Grounds.

Food and hot refreshments will be available in the clubhouse after the race, along with the prize ceremony. Sports masseurs will be giving free pre and post run rubs for runners.

Note: This is a fully marshalled race and it will also have an AAI Permit

The prizes on offer are as follows:

10k 1st prize (mens and womens) €250 2nd prize (mens and womens) €200 3rd prize (mens and womens) €150 4th prize (mens and womens) €100 5th prize (mens and womens) €75 6th prize (mens and womens) €50

5k 1st prize (mens and womens) €150 2nd prize (mens and womens) €100 3rd prize (mens and womens) €75 4th prize (mens and womens) €50 There will be also different age group prizes, while we will also have prizes for Athletic Clubs and GAA Clubs.

The 10k run will begin at 10.30am and the 5k will take place at 10.45am. Registeration will be open from 9am on the morning of the runs. Late entry runners are requested to arrive early so the morning can run smoothly.


We also are delighted to welcome Hannah Nolan, Spar Spartan Winner 2011, owner of Why Weight Ireland, and manager of Karl Henry’s (Operation Transformation) gym in Dublin on board. Hannah is also the Fit 4 Life Ambassador for Athletics Ireland.
