This Chip timed popular 10k event is an ideal warm up for the Dublin City Marathon that takes place two weeks later. The route starts on the Meelick road beside the Maldron Hotel on the Abbeyleix road Portlaoise. The 10k route for the most part is fairly flat and meanders out the countryside across Rathleague and the Stradbally Road where it joins the Dublin Road and re-enters the town of Portlaoise finishing back on the Abbeyleix Road outside the Portlaoise Golf Club. The 5k route will start and finish at the same place but will be directed through a separate route and finish line. The 5k participants will not be time chipped. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st Lady and 1st Gent to cross the finish line with a special prize for the 1st in the junior category. Refreshments will be served at the Hotel which is close by.
