Lake Region 4 Mile Charity Fundraising Run/Walk

 The Lake Region Medical 4 Mile Run/Walk takes place on Sunday 23rd October at 11am on the scenic grounds of the JFK Arboretum just outside New Ross. This charity event is in aid of the Hope Cancer Support Centre (non-for-profit organisation) in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. The family fun and community based event will provide plenty of activity for kids and adults of all ages.

The day will commence at 11am with the “Lake Region Kiddie Dash” which is an 80m sprint for kids from the ages of 4 to 12 years old (kids go free). Medals will be presented to all kids who participate on the day. This will be followed by an Inter Secondary Schools Relay Competition comprising of a 2 Mile Relay Race organised by transition year students. Local secondary schools will submit one team for this event. Each team of 10 consists of 2 pupils from each year 1st through 6th. This will spark great rivalry between the local schools to provide an exciting and competitive relay race.

1pm see’s the start of the 4 mile timed run comprising of 2 laps of the park for runners of all ages and disciplines. This is also a great opportunity for local long distance runners to stretch their legs and discuss race plans ahead of the Dublin Marathon the following weekend. Then at 1:30pm a 2 mile lap of the park will take place for walkers, those with buggies and kids and anyone who wants to take part. Light refreshments will then be served to all from 2pm where events of the day can be chatted about and people can mingle over a hot cup of tea and some home baking.
