from Athletics Northern Ireland Lagan Valley AC enhanced their reputation for innovation with the promotion of a very successful Summer Short Course Cross Country event held the beautiful surroundings of Barnett’s Park, appropriately nestled in the valley of the River Lagan. With the assistance of Belfast City Council’s “Support for Sport” the Lagan Valley club added to their success with the WALSIN Young Athlete Series by putting on an 11 race programme in warm and sunny conditions.

The event was unique not only in its timing but in the length of the course which was a 600 metres tough undulating lap set in a natural bowl of the city park. A total of just under 150 athletes from a wide area of the Province took part and provided some excellent entertainment for the appreciative crowd.

The race of the day was the Years 11-12 Girls over four laps.
