24-Hour Fundraising Run

Keith Russell of Navan AC will be running for 24 hours to raise awareness for funding of a new track for Navan. Keith’s event is closed, and he will run at the old track starting on 27th June at 12pm finishing on 28th at 12pm. COVID-19 regulations will be in place with supervisors to ensure no one other than Keith and his support team is on-site.

Claremont Stadium Olympic size athletics track for the past twenty years has been the stage of many County, Regional and School Athletic Championships. It provides the community of Navan and the surrounding areas with a unique and ideal training venue in a safe and healthy environment. Claremont Stadium Club has been awarded nearly €180,000 from the Sport Capital Programme for the relaying of the athletic track. The total cost of the project will be €265,000 and while they have raised some matching funding, with the help of Navan AC, planned fundraising events for 2020 have been impacted by COVID-19. However, the Coronavirus won’t get in the way of giving the community a new track facility for walking, running, jumping and having fun.

The track is supported by and home of Navan Athletic Club whose many athletes of age 5 years and upwards enjoy the buzz of being on an athletic track. Over the years the track has supported a diverse number of individuals and groups from Special Olympics, Paralympics, Primary and Secondary Schools and Meath Local Sports Programmes in their training. In 2019 nearly 200 different groups used Claremont Stadium for Sports, Education or Social activities and the new athletic track will improve and support their ongoing growth and success.

Support Keith Russell

To make this project a reality they are asking for your help by sponsoring and giving what you can and sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family. The track is 8 lanes @ 400meters and they are asking people to sponsor a metre of new track for €10.

They will be extremely grateful if you are in a position to donate over and above €10 to sponsor your meter of track. Every sponsor will be acknowledged and thanked regardless of their donation.

Any help you can give will be appreciated and it will help the Club be in a stronger position when on the road to recovery from the closure of Claremont Stadium.
