John Holian cup memorial cycle race

Western Lakes CC are promoting the John Holian cycle race/lesiure cycle on Friday June 11th. John Holian was a founder member of the Western Lakes CC, which was formed back in 1999, he was a great stalwart to cycling in Connacht acting as manager, mechanic and driver to many Connacht teams over the years.

The event will be a little different as leisure cyclist will get the opportunity to cycle the route ahead of the race, particpants can do as many laps as they like.

The event is open to all racers and is also part of the Western Lakes/ Westport club league, this event is also open to all other racers around the country.

The race will have a handicap which will help to cater for novice racers, there will be prizes for the first 6 across the line, and sprint primes on each lap passing the road to the Derries where John lived.

Holian transport Cross have kindly sponsored a perputal cup in honour of John’s cycling talents.
The event is sponsored by O Malley’s bar Cross, the sign on and post race refreshments will also take place there.
Sign on open from 6.30pm, leisure cyclists start at 7.15 and the race proper starts at 7.30pm.
