from AAI website Following on from their very successful meeting on June 21st where 70 athletes competed in their 800m series (34 of whom broke 2 minutes in the men’s races and 17 personal bests overall) the Irish Milers Club are delighted another top series of races this Saturday in Irishtown. Mark Carroll and Mark Christie lead the entries for the men’s ‘A’ 3000m and are looking for a sub 8 minute time along with Joe Mc Allister. Two pacemakers will be allocated to this race, one for sub 8 minutes and the other for a time of 8.15-8.20 minutes. A ‘B’ 3000m race will cater for athletes looking for a time of 8.50-9.30 minutes. The meeting will also feature two men’s 1500m races with Jordan Neil who ran 3.49 last week in the Watford BMC, Aidan Bailey (3.48, 2007) and Gary O’Hanlon (3.51. 2008) the main entries so far. This race will be paced for sub 3.50 minutes and the ‘B’ race will be paced for 4 minutes flat. Finally, a women’s 1500m will feature IMC Regular Susan Byrne and will be paced for athletes between 4.30 and 4.45 minutes. This is the last Irishtown meeting this year. The IMC will then move to the Cork City Sports on July 12th where the organisers have kindly allocated three races to the IMC. Entries are filling up fast and athletes are advised to contact Garrett Coughlan as above as soon as possible to enter for these races.
