Former Blizzards front man and mental fitness advocate Niall Breslin was on hand to launch the Vhi A Lust for Life Run brought to you by the Irish Independent, which is taking place in Galway Racecourse on Saturday, September 3rd. The Vhi A Lust for Life Run Series was set up with the aim of bringing people together through exercise to create awareness around mental health. The highly successful first event of the 5k and 10k series took place in the Phoenix Park in March in which over 4,000 people participated.

Speaking at the launch in Galway, Kieran Shrahan, Corporate Account Manager, Vhi commented:
“Vhi is delighted to be supporting the Vhi A Lust for Life Run Series and is very much looking forward to the event taking place in Galway on September 3rd. The Dublin leg of the series was a huge success, with large numbers coming together to help raise awareness for mental health. We are confident that the people of Galway will come out in their droves to show their support for such a good cause.”

Vhi’s sponsorship of the A Lust for Life Run Series complements the sponsorship of the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon and means that Ireland’s leading health insurer will play a significant role in ensuring that over 50,000 Irish people will participate in running events in 2016.

Arlene Regan, Marketing Manager, Irish Independent & Independent.ie commented:
‘’The Irish Independent are thrilled to be supporting the VHI A Lust for Life Run Series and extending it to the west of Ireland, giving the people of Galway and surrounding counties the opportunity to show their support for such a good cause. Whether you plan to run, walk, jog – it’s an ideal outing for families or groups of friends to come together to help raise awareness for mental health and no doubt, it promises to be a great day.’’

Following on from the event in Galway, the series will then take place in Cork Airport on September 30th where participants will have the unique opportunity to run across the runway at midnight after the last plane of the day flies in.
