Entries flowing in for this years run – Sat 18 May This years Roundstone Bay 8K promises to be another fantastic outing for an event that has gone from strength to strength since its inception 3 years ago. Set in the heart of Connemara, the route takes in some spectacular scenery as the road snakes along the Atlantic Coastline while the majestic Twelve Bens mountains dominate the background. The Roundstone Bay 8K is proud to be the fundraiser for our local RNLI Lifeboat Sevice, and all proceeds go to this worthy cause. On the day, there will be chip-timing and the race is AAI Certified. A DJ will also be on hand to ramp up the atmosphere and give runners the impetus to go the extra mile. Winners in the various categories will receive unique and bespoke handcrafted prizes. These will go to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places overall in both Male and Female categories, as well as prizes for the 1st home in the Over 40, Over 50 and Over 60 categories.
Roundstone itself is well used to handling visitors, being one of the most popular tourism destinations in the west of Ireland. There will be a great local welcome for all runners, and the fun doesn’t stop with just the run. Throughout the evening and into the early hours, there will be plenty of musical entertainment to ensure a good time is had by all.
