Results The village of Piltown in county Kilkenny was the venue for the third race in this year’s Outfield Sports/Asics Three Counties Challenge, the Morris Oil 10k.Each race in this year’s series has seen an increase in participants and this race continued the trend with 166 runners lining up. There was certainly an international flavour to proceedings as Sergiu Ciobanu from Moldova , running in the Clonliffe Harriers colours, took the men’s race in a time of 30:33. This was 20 seconds faster than Sergiu’s winning time from last year.Second place went to Philip Harty (West Waterford) in 32:34 while Dwane Farrell (Tinryland) was third in 33:40
The ladies’ race was won by Pauline Lambe(Tullamore Harriers) in a time of 36:56. In second place, all the way from California, was Nicole Campbell (37:28) while third place went to Corrina Walsh of West Waterford AC (38:58).
The fourth and final race in this very popular series will be the Carraig Hotel ‘Deadman’s 5’ in Carrick-on-Suir on Friday, August 7th at 7:30pm.
