Race Update Due to the unpredictable weather we have been having lately we are making some changes by giving all our competitors the option of using a Kayak in the water instead of doing the Swim. However in order to have the race fair and competitive we will have the kayak distance equal in stature to the swim distance so no one is at an advantage!! The swim will be reduced to approx 400m and the kayak distance will be 800m. Because we have added this option of kayaking, this will no longer be a Triathlon Ireland sanctioned event, so you will no longer require a TI one day licence. Any one day licenses that have already been paid to TI for this event will be refunded.
The Swim/Kayak will still take place at the lovely tranquil Hollywood Lake, Ballinode, Monaghan with both Swimmers and Kayakers entering the lake at the same time. For you who wish to take part but has not sailed a Kayak before we will be providing the Kayaks which are two-man open top kayak so don’t worry about your ability. Anyone who has their own kayak and wishes to use it is welcome to do so. The cycle leg is a repeat of last year which takes competitors on a fairly flat route which is repeated three times around local roads which are partially closed. Again the 5k run is fairly flat out and back course which a slight incline just before the turnaround point. Entries are now open at a reduce price of €35.00 through the Run Ireland website www.runireland.com/forms/inter-counties-triathlon-2012 and full details are available at www.mucknotri.com.
