On a beautiful Summers evening last Saturday , July 12th, the town of Headford hosted the 4th annual Headford 8k Charity Road Race. The race was a huge success with 163 competitors taking part on the day. A well organised event and challenging course helped make it a very enjoyable evening and it was smiles all round for those involved. The race was won by Mark Davis from the Craughwell club in a time of 26:42. The winner of the Senior Ladies category was Regina Casey from Galway City Harriers in a time of 30:07. Finally a special thanks to the organisers of the event Eamon Walsh, Gary Doherty and Fergal Flynn and to all the stewards and volunteers who gave of their time and expertise. Proceeds from the race will go to Rosedale school for children with physical and intellectual disabilities to provide special equipment for their playground.
