Strawberry Half Marathon still open for entries It seems that these days many runners do not to enter races until close to race day probably because they don’t want to pay the entry fee until they are sure they can participate. Therefore the organisers of the Enniscorthy Strawberry Festival Half Marathon, Relay and 15K Walk have decided to keep the entries open for another few weeks.

Preparations are well underway for a great day on 27th June. The course has now been accurately measured by the AAI and local runners who are out training on the course may see the kilometre markers on the road.

The teeshirts and finishers mugs are being ordered, the strawberries are ripening but thankfully the sandwiches havn’t been made yet.

There will be lots of activity down on the Promenade at the start/finish area with music and race commentary. South East Radio will be in town and will be interviewing finishers including, no doubt their own Alan Corcoran who is in training for the race.  There will be tea and sandwiches  afterwards for all entrants in the Riverside Park Hotel where the prizegiving will take place.

Afterwards there will be plenty activity in the town as part of the County Wexford Strawberry Festival including the All Ireland Farmers Market and more music up in Market Square. Rumour has it that the Lambert Puppet Theatre will be in town on the day also. So there will be lots to do for runners and supporters. And if you feel like staying over on Sunday night check out the special race day offer from the Riverside Park Hotel which is on the event website, www.strawberryhalfmarathon.com
