Great Race Galway Gets the backing of Irish Olympic Marathoner

Fancy a 10km run on the Famous Galway Race Track? Irish representative for men’s marathon in London 2012, Mark Kenneally, was on hand to launch the Great Race Galway which will take place on Sunday the 17th June 2012 at Galway Race Course, Ballybrit, Galway. The race is open to runners of all levels and there will also be plenty of entertainment on the day making it a fun day out for all the family. Speaking at the launch Mark Kenneally said “I am delighted to be supporting the launch of Great Race Galway; anything that encourages people to put on their runners and take part in such a worthwhile cause is great in my book.” Kenneally went on to speak of his hopes for the forthcoming Games “Being the Irish representative for the men’s marathon in London 2012 is a dream come true and I am feeling really positive about the challenge that lies ahead. I am very proud to be representing my country and I am very focused on performing as well as I can in London.” The two official charities linked with the race are Croí and the Marie Keating Foundation. Barry McCann, Croí Fundraising Manager stated “We are so pleased to be associated with such a special event. Our association with Great Race Galway is a perfect platform to encourage men and women of all ages to look after their own heart health by being more physically active.” Linda Keating, Director of Fundraising at the Marie Keating Foundation said “As a runner myself, I think this event is shaping up to be one of the new highlights of the running calendar.
