Gear up for the Great Ethiopian Run- Support Concern Worldwide while on the trip of a lifetime –
Are you looking for a new, fun and exciting challenge this year? Why don’t you take part in The Great Ethiopian Run in Addis Ababa on November 27? Run, jog, walk or dance your way around the 10k route of this fun-run, while raising much needed funds for Concern Worldwide!
John Treacy, Olympic silver medallist and Chief Executive of the Irish Sports Council will lead the Concern team in this fantastic event.
The week-long trip promises lots of thrills and new experiences, even for the most intrepid travellers and experienced runners…
You will soak up the buzzing atmosphere of Meskal Square at the heart of Addis, and have dinner with the legendary Haile Gebreselassie, the Ethiopian long-distance track and road running athlete who has broken 27 world records and won numerous Olympic and World Championship titles in his career.
The atmosphere of the race promises to be electric, as 35,000 people come together singing and chanting at the startline. The trip will also make time for a visit to the Rift Valley Lakes, some of the oldest lakes in the world which are home to a spectacular variety of wild life and are surrounded by stunning countryside.
You will then have the opportunity to visit some of Concern Worldwide’s programmes in this vast country, and will gain insight into how the money you have raised is being spent to improve the lives of the poorest people.
