Easter Sunday 2014 The Graignamanagh 10k is now into its 4th year of raising funds for the Irish Guide Dogs. The event was set up in 2011 as a memorial to local girl Bairbre Lonergan who tragically passed away in July 2010. It started as a small Fun Run event and has grown year on year to an event that everyone in Graig is very proud of!!
The plans for this year are even bigger and better than before!! The 10k will kick off at 12:30pm and follow an amazing scenic route – runners last year called the route tough but enjoyable!!! An accurate timing system is available for all runners and the first 200 runners who enter online receive a commemorative t-shirt. Once the 10k is over and the runners have cooled down and prizes have been presented, the family day starts! There will be "Barbs 5k for fun" at 2:30pm where people are being asked to do one of 2 things…..either come dressed as a bear of their choice or bring a teddy bear which will be donated to St Vincent de Paul. The reason behind this is a pet name which Barbs family had for her since birth. There will be bouncy castles, music from the best of our local talent, a bbq for people to fill their bellies, an easter egg hunt for kids and a raffle with prizes which have all been donated by local businesses. All in all it is an amazing day not only for 10k enthusiasts, but also for their families. An amazing day in memory of an amazing girl…what more could you want!!!
