Gold medal for Donore Women in Leinster Intermediate Championships

from Donore Harriers website Two weeks after taking the team gold medal at the Leinster Novice Cross Country Championships, Donore women struck gold once again at the Intermediate equivalent today.
The 4k race was held in Adamstown, County Wexford where conditions were said to be ideal over a flat course. Aedin Corr was the first Donore girl home in 3rd place, a great result for her considering some disappointments in some recent races. Alisa Cotter finished in 5th, Maura Kearns 10th, Julia Hackett 17th, Mairead Kirby 19th and Sinéad McCauley 26th. Congratulations to them all. Aedin, Alisa and Maura also secured a county gold medal when all 3 scored for Dublin.

The first race of the Meet and Train Winter League also took place in Lucan today attracting a race field of 100. Donore fielded two teams. Claire Doyle was first home in 7th, and Patricia Doran 18th and Mary Kingston 19th made the top 20. Mary Murphy was close behind in 22nd with Karen Behan 26th and Caren Crowley 28th. Niamh Feeney made her debut for Donore in 35th, Angela Eustace was 58th. Niamh Martin the youngest runner in the race was 67th. The race was won by Sharon Tighe of Tallaght AC.

Meanwhile Derek O’Neill was chasing a sub 3hr marathon in New York today. He did well but missed out on his goal and finished in 3hrs 07mins.
