Athletics Ireland Join Forces With Intersport Elverys And Irish Runner Magazine To Launch A Campaign To Get Ireland Running
Intersport Elverys and Irish Runner Magazine have partnered up with Athletics Ireland to launch a Get Ireland Running Campaign aimed at doing just that. One of the key objectives of Athletics Ireland is to promote health and fitness of the population as a whole, and the Get Ireland Running Campaign will seek to encourage people to experience the health and wellbeing benefits associated with running for themselves. The campaign will include access to an online resource for those who are not currently active to avail of tips and advice which will support them on their journey to becoming part of the over 300,000 strong running community in Ireland.
Hamish Adams, the CEO of Athletics Ireland welcomed the launch of the campaign saying: “Athletics Ireland is delighted to partner with Intersport Elverys and Irish Runner Magazine to encourage people of all ages to get involved in exercise. Athletics Ireland has a mission to support and develop athletics across all ages, disciplines, and abilities and to contribute positively to increasing physical activity levels across the entire population. Our clubs are a great starting point for anyone thinking about getting involved in running, with many running Fit4Life, Couch to 5k, and beginner programmes available right across the country.”
Speaking on the new partnership with Intersport Elverys and Irish Runner Magazine, Adams added: “It is fantastic to have Intersport Elverys support the campaign. Their wide-reaching network of stores will provide a huge benefit in helping us encourage people to get started.
Our friends in Irish Runner have long been the voice of Athletics in Ireland and it’s great to have them share our passion for breaking down barriers and making it possible for everyone to take part in the sport already enjoyed by many.”
Athletics Ireland caters for people from the ages of 8 – 80 through a range of localised programmes which actively engage over 100,000 people daily, and the new partnership with Intersport Elverys will provide an added voice in the local community.
Marketing Manager at Intersport Elverys, Anne Marie Hanly said; “Intersport Elverys shares this vision and commitment in helping people to improve their physical activity regardless of whether they are looking to run their first ever kilometre or take on the challenge of a half marathon. With more than 50 stores right across Ireland, we feel we are ideally placed to support the campaign as a trusted source of expert advice to both the casual running community as well as seasoned athletes.
