Galway City Harriers athletes continued their good early season form in Tuam with both Juvenile and Senior athletes scoring very well. Juvenile Performances…
The club dominated the under 11 boys race John Maher finishing 1st, David Carter 2nd & Fiachra O’Clochain 3rd & with Liam Costello 5th , Bronson Kelly 6th & Luke O’Shaughnessy 8th, Rory Gaffney 15th, Daniel Johnson 24th, they won the team event with 11 points. Sarah McDonnell who won the under 10 race in Dangan finished 7th, with Sinead Minhan 10th & Ruth Cunningham 18th.

Alana Lally won the under 13 girls in great style. Roisin Dobey was next finisher in 7th, Laura Ann Costello 10th, Maebh Brannigan 11th, Sorcha Minihan 12th & Elisabeth Maher 6th scorer in 15th place, Shauna Hynes 18th, Rachel Heskin 21st & Aisling Ni Fhlatharta 23rd. The team finished 2nd behind Craughwell with 29 points. Colm Hughes won the under 13 boys from a very determined Conor Gillen , Craughwell. Simon O’Shaughnessy was 6th,Keegan Kelly 9th Calum McClaren 12th, Owen McDonnel 16th, Harley Kelly 17th, Ronan Esslemont 18th, Conall Bergin 20th & Oisin Cunningham 22nd.

Michelle Maher was first GCH athlete home in the under 15 race in 3rd place, Emma Johnson 8th, Fiona O’Connor 11th, Aislong Hynes 12th, Leanne Biggins 13th and Aisling McCarthy 16th. The team finished 2nd with 32 points. David Bohan led the under 15 boys to victory finishing a very good 2nd, with Shane Fahy 3rd, Anthony Hebron 4th, Evan McGiure 5th, Dean Gavagan 12th & Henry Griffin 16th. Team total 14 points.

Sarah Johnson was our only runner in the under 17 girls finishing 5th. Seamus O’Conghaile finished 2nd in the under 17 boys, with Keith Fallon 4th, Gearoid 5th & Fergal O’Hanlon 6th. GCH won the team with 17 points.

Nicola O’Ceallaigh finished 2nd in the under 19 girls race & won the under 20 race while Anna Shelton finished 3rd in the under 19’s & 2nd in the under 20’s. Michael McDonnacha won the under 19 boys race.

Senior Performances…
Orla Ni Mhuirceartahigh won the senior womens race with Bernie Kelly 6th (1st masters) Alison Liddy 7th, Eve Daly 9th, Clodagh Egan 10th, Nicola Deacy 11th. GCH won the team event with 17 points from Athenry.

Matthew Lockett making his cross-country debut for GCH was a runaway winner of the Senior men’s race. John O’Brien finished 9th (3rd Masters) & John Delvin 16th..
