from A.A.I Athletics Ireland will be sending a full squad of both Junior and Senior Athletes to the Celtic Cup in Cardiff this weekend. Included in the team is Rose Anne Galligan from Newbridge AC.
Galligan will be looking to dip inside the World Indoors qualifying standard for the 1500m. The Kildare women ran fractionally close to the standard in setting a personal best of 4:15.13 to take silver to take silver at UK Championships last weekend.
Former European Junior Champion Colin Costello (Star of the Sea AC) will compete in the Senior Men’s 1500m. Costello showed a return to form to win the Men’s 1500m at Woodie’s DIY Senior Indoor Championships in 3.58.81.
Claire Wilkinson (Ballymena & Antrim AC) will compete in the Pole Vault and will look to improve on the Irish U23 Indoor record of 3.80m she set at the Senior Indoor Championships.
Ailis McSweeney of Leevale AC will line up in the Senior Women’s 60m. While Nineteen year old Dean Adams of Ballymena and Antrim also impressed with a personal best of 6.89 seconds to finish second to Paul Hession at the Senior Indoors will line up in the Senior Men’s 60m.
