Gaelforce West 2011

0

Gaelforce West is the largest one day adventure race of its kind in the world. The 2011 event takes place on Saturday August 20th.

It is a multi-sport adventure race involving cycling, running, hiking and kayaking. The course of approximately 67km stretches from the stunning Glassilaun beach to Westport. En route there are some significant obstacles to cross, including Killary Harbour and the famous holy mountain of Croagh Patrick. The event is designed for solo competitors, but you can run it with a buddy or training partner. Due to logistics we do not allow relay teams.

We have included all of the relevant information you need to know to compete in Gaelforce West 2011 within this site. Please read everything carefully so there are no surprises on the day.

It is important to note that you will get wet and dirty; you are running through bogs, along mountain paths and up Croagh Patrick! You are cycling along small country roads, a dirt track and on a small section of the N59. This is not a triathlon, a marathon or a fun run it is an adventure race! It will test you both physically and mentally but the elation you will feel at the end when you cross the finish line will make it all worth it!
