Gortin twins Roisin and Eilish Flanagan have both smashed Emma Mitchell’s 5000m Northern Irish record overnight. Postgraduate students at Adams State University, the twins have improved drastically on their adventure in the USA. Eilish struck silver in the steeplechase at the European U23 Championships in 2019.

This time it was Roisin who crossed the line in front of her sister and became Northern Ireland record holder with a time of 15.38, with a 4.51 last mile. Eilish was recorded 15:40.
