Duathlons
Duathlons will take place in the the magnificent grounds of Ardgillan in Skerries Co Fingal. Ardgillan Castle and Demesne is set in spectacular parklands overlooking the Irish Sea with a magnificent view of the Mourne Mountains and the north Dublin coastline.
The park covers an area of 200 acres of wild woodland walks, sheltered picnic areas and rolling lawns and meadows.
The park is dominated by Ardgillan Castle which includes a coffee shop and exhibitions. The restored Walled garden includes a herb garden, vegetable potager and extensive ornamental plant collection. Other important attractions include the formal Rose Garden, The National Plant Collection of Shrubby Potentillas with 200 varieties, a large restored Victorian Conservatory and an Herbaceous Border.

Athletes will start their race at the Castle facing up the main driveway, the start is a testing incline for 400 metres, and the athletes will then turn right onto the forest trail. It is practically all downhill from here until 3km mark; you will go through 2 parks each with views of the Mourne mountains before you run flattish along the path adjacent to the Dublin/Belfast Railway line. At the 3km you will turn right and make you way up towards the castle, the last 2km is all uphill all the way back up to the front of the castle through the gardens and turn left along the back of the castle and onto the main driveway, at the top you turn right with immediate left into transition area
Cycle (on closed roads)
You will take your bike out of transition and run 150 metres to the main gates of the Castle. You will mount your bike at the Castle entrance, turn right with a slight incline for 600 metres you will down turn left on a downhill stretch for 400 metres with a sharp right, with a very fast straight 1km stretch, you will have a sharp turn left where you will then come to an incline all the way to the left turn at the Man o War pub, for the next 2km you have a very fast downhill stretch (caution is advised on the S bends), you will turn left at the Killalane turn and proceed for 1km up by Kearney’s tree, you will go 400 metres on a slight incline where you will reach the turnaround point back downhill and turn left at Kearneys Tree at the 8km mark, a fast flat 1km road awaits with a very sharp left turn uphill for 1km, with one last left turn and a 400 metre fast stretch back to the main gates. You will dismount at the Castle Entrance.

Run 2
The Athletes will come out of transition straight into fast downhill run for just over 2km, you will come to the turn right back up to the Castle where the last 1km is all uphill the finish line is at the top of the main driveway close to transition.
