Seb’s COPE Triathlon Training Sessions on the Prom

Meet 6

With the heavy rain on Monday, we almost missed a second training session like the previous week, but thankfully by the time we arrived in Salthill the sky had cleared up nicely. The eight of us who had braved it out headed down to the beach as soon as we could and it was only after 3x300m laps that Seb let us out, though I have to say the sea was warm for a change. Changing as quickly as we could, we hopped on the bikes and were on the road to Barna by 8.50pm. Seb followed up in his jeep with the warning lights on and I have to say, we felt a bit privileged! Turning at Barna village we faced a nice head wind on the way back to Salthill and then we grouped together to do the triathlon 5k run along the Prom to the Claddagh. Due to a foot injury (a real one Seb!), yours truly couldn’t run, so I can’t report back on how the guys did, however, I know they’re psyched for the real thing!

Thanks to all who came training for the past 6 weeks, merci beaucoup to our fantastic coach and no n’eiri an t’ádh to all competing on Sunday! Hope to see you next year for more of the same!
