From Donore harriers If not a little on the chilly side it was otherwise a perfect day for today’s Dublin marathon which had many Donore members involved on several platforms. As usual Donore and friends manned the drinks station in Chapelizod which is close to the 8 mile mark. It was tough but enjoyable work setting up early in the morning and working through until the afternoon to keep thirst at bay. Thanks and well done to all who were there to help and clean up. In the race we had a number of runners taking part. First to show on the day was Diarmuid O’Seaghdha who was greeted with a volley of support as he passed the drinks station. Diarmuid went on to run a fantastic race finishing 14th in a time of 2:29:40. Ken Norgrove was next through and again the Donore singlet drew shouts of well wishes as it did for all our participants. Ken ran very well running 2.45.10 although he may have been a little disappointed with that as he had previously expressed a desire to run a 2.35 marathon. I’m sure it’s not long off Ken! Kenneth Nugent was next to finish in a fine time of 2.53.24. Anne Curley was the 1st of our ladies home in 2.58.02. Donal Iremonger paced his run very well to run a 3.02.23 in his first ever marathon. Liz Mac Curtain ran a great time of 3:52:02 and Emer Fay also running her first marathon ran an excellent 4.13.32. Well done to all and hope there are not too many aching limbs.
