From Athletic Northern Ireland UPDATE
Ciara Mageean has run 2:08.74 to finish 5th in the 800m. The race was a triumphant display for the UK home countries, placing 2nd (England), 3rd (Scotland) as well as Ciara’s 5th. The race was won by South Africa’s Mokgadi Caster Semenya in a Games Record of 2:04.23. Hannah Lewis raced in the 200m final finishing 8th in a time of 24.88.
After a very busy yet successful day yesterday, some of the athletes have already been in action.
Ciara Mageean ran in the 800m heat this morning finishing second ina time of 2.12.71 and qualifying for the final later today (1:15pm local time).
Curtis Woods ran in the 200m semi-final finishing in 4th place ina time of 22.29 which unforunately doesn’t make the final.
