European Athletic Association The European Athletic Association has ranked Cork in 5th. place following the annual evaluation of all its Outdoor Permit Meetings for 2007. In 2006 Cork ranked 3rd. amongst its European peers and following another hugely successful promotion at the 56th.Cork City Sports at the Mardyke last June the event amassed 79062 points to maintain its high ranking position within the European Athletics Permit circuit.
The evaluation process is based on the current IAAF scoring tables of Athletics. The ranking of each European Meeting has been calculated by adding the top five performances in fourteen events plus the two next best scoring performances to bring the total number of performances considered for evaluation purposes to seventy two.
The annual Russian Znamensky Memorial meeting headed the 2007 rankings ahead of Italian runners-up Padova on 79474 points. Cork in ranking 5th.on 79062 points were a mere 47 points down on the Norwich Union Grand Prix, Glasgow who scored 79109 points.
