Wild West Run Report – Co. Kerry Congratulations to all participants on the inaugural ‘Wild West Run’ in Killarney. The 13.1m stretch of ‘the Kerry Way was both challenging and spectacular. All competitors deserve a ‘pat on the back’ for their fine achievement. It was refreshing to see so many runners back in Killarney afterwards -the feedback was great – as was the Guinness!!
A special mention to WINNER JAMES DORAN – 1hr 33m – outstanding! Some runners are convinced he has a quad bike up in the hills..! Cosmas de Burca and Simon Mangan came in just behind – well done lads!
Geraldine O Sullivan took the Ladies first prize 2hr12m- with Brid Stack and Bridgit Flynn not far behind – well done girls!
Wild West Run would like to thank the great help from local clubs – Gneeveguilla, An Riocht and Kenmare – especially the hard work of John Lenihan and Breda Barratt. Similarly the race could not have taken place without Pat Dawson and his team at Killarney National Park. WWR is committed to promoting and protecting the integrity of our National Environment – so thanks to the Parks team/marshalls and runners in this regard.
Our pilot event attracted 56 particpants and approx €650 was raised for our chosen charity ‘Kerry Autism Service’
Keep an eye out for our ‘Wild West Run’ website which will be online from March – we’llbe sourcing new challenges/adventures for you all!!
Well done everyone!
