Support For Coaching Projects

Athletics Ireland are seeking to support on a pilot basis projects in clubs or county boards that support the provision of coaching of athletics to young athletes on a local basis. Athletics Ireland has secured a small total fund of €8000 which will provide some financial assistance to a number of groups who are able to:

Provide an outline plan of how the project will run

What contribution from Athletics Ireland is required and how it will be spent.

How a contribution from Athletics Ireland will assist the plan

The expected outcomes of the plan and how it’s success will be measured.

The contribution from the club/ county board to the project.

How the project will be managed.

Applications can be in the form of a letter to Gary Ryan, Director of Coaching, Athletics Ireland, 19 Northwood Court, Northwood Business Campus, Santry, Dublin 9 or by e-mail to [email protected]

The Coaching Committee will consider the applications. The closing date for applications is the 25th of April.

Development Races

The first Development Races in the 2008 series take place on Wednesday April 30th with a women’s 3000 Mtrs at 6 45 and the Mens 10000 mtrs at 7 pm in Morton Stadium, Santry
The womes race is an addition to the programme already sent out,

Regional Development Squads This Weekend

This weekend over 300 athletes will be attending Regional Squads in Dublin, Leinster and Munster.

The Regional Development Squads have proved extremely popular since their re-launch last October with big numbers attending every session.

Times and venues as follows

Dublin & Leinster: Saturday April 19th, Tullamore Harriers Stadium, 11am – 3pm.
Munster: Saturday April 19th, Cork IT, 12:30pm – 3:30pm.
