Support for the Breffni Challenge is growing constantly in the 10th year of the event! In September 2011, Clones native Darragh Holland decided to set up a new fitness centre in Corlurgan, Cavan and in the intervening months membership has been growing steadily. Duchy’s Fitness wanted to get involved with a meaningful charity event and selected the Breffni Challenge as its main beneficiary.

Darragh got in touch with Philip Brady and set the wheels in motion. He set a target of €3,000 in 4 weeks by donating all membership in those weeks to the Breffni Challenge. His expectations were raised in just 2 weeks and he has already presented €3,300 to the Breffni Challenge, and hopes to be involved in the Breffni Challenge on 4th August.

The 10th Annual Breffni Challenge will raise funds for St Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar, Dublin, which is the main Radiotherapy Centre in Ireland. The N.B.C.R.I. (National Breast Cancer Research Institute) Galway and Cavan/Monaghan Cancer Homecare Association also benefit. The Breffni Challenge has, in 10 years, raised over €750,000 for these charities and it consists of a Walk, Jog, Run or Cycle from the Meadowview Inn, Cavan to Arva. Over 600 people took part last year, which is a great support to the many families who are affected by cancer.

Dutchy’s Fitness’ generous contribution has given the Breffni Challenge a great boost for 2012’s event.
