Many of the athletes were involved in the Belfast International Cross Country which provided them with competition before this weekend’s big international. Ciara Mageean was the clear winner in the U17 section beating her older under 20 counterparts. Eimear Black and Adam Ingram also had successful races at Stormont.
An ULSTER team was selected for the Celtic International Cross Country on the 12th January 2008 in Edinburgh instead of a Northern Ireland team as was previously the case.
The event is one of a number taking place in the Holyrood park including the Tesco Junior Great Winter Run and the Great Edinburgh International X Country which is once again expected to attract the worlds best elite athletes to take part in what is widely regarded by many as the best non championship cross country event in the world.
