5 MILE ROAD RACE (8,045Metres) – 11:00 START from AURA LEISURE CENTRE and there will be a CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL all weekend in Carrick-On-Shannon so bring the family to the race and stay for the great shopping and the entertainment including an ICE SKATING RINK, BOAT TRIPS on the Shannon and a CHRISTMAS MARKET ( https://christmasincarrick.com/city-life/).
ENTRY FEE €10 – That’s right sensible pricing policy as always. Enter early and we will fast track the early entries to the grotto registration area with the elves and reindeer. This year we will have manual timing and will have results for at least the first 100 to keep the costs low.
This will be a 2 lap race on the inner loop of the 5th Annual Carrick 10K Course which will take place on Sunday March 3rd 2013. It will be a mixture of fun and serious to reflect the festive season and you have to wear something Christmassy. There will be ‘Primes’ at each mile point for Turkeys and other prizes (limited to one prize each) but you have to finish the race to collect your prizes.
AAI Permit will be in place – naturally – and there will be Christmas themed prizes and a good few Turkeys hopefully as the prospective Turkey shortage this year may mean we have to get – ‘The Last Turkey In The Shop’.
1st 3 Men and Women will be recognised along with the usual age groups and any other categories we dream up on the day.
There will also be lots of spot prizes and everybody is encouraged to come in fancy dress and add to the atmosphere.
