the third and final Race in the outfield sports/asics summer series(promoted by carrick on suir a.c roadrunners ) took place last sunday 12th august. The carraig hotel “deadmans 5” mile roadrace attracted 105 runners to carrick on suir. conditions were ideal,being sunny and dry with a light wind (and even a little shower half way through the race to cool everyone down was appreciated.) as in the previous races in the series the race was lead from start to finish by the impressive ravis zakis of west waterford a.c. ravis has been in superb form recently and his finishing time of 25:37 was a p.b. in second place was danny smyth from ballynonty a.c. in 27:17, followed closely by michael lyons of grange fermoy a.c.
Meanwhile, the ladies rase was won by st.sennans a.c.’s adele walsh,in a time of 31.18..like the mens winner, adele completed a hat-trick of wins in the series with this impressive run. in second place was josophine killeen from kilmurry a.c. in 32:10 followed by mary bourke of waterford a.c. in third place.
all in all, a great days racing which ended the series, the first run bt carrick on suir a.c., on a high. looking foward to seeing you next year !.
