BRITISH AGE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS – Day 4

0

Pond’s Forge, Sheffield Day 4 was our last day of competing and many of our athletes had priority swims on
this day after a long week. The morning started with David O’Sullivan (Galway SC,
Connaught) stepping up on the block in the 14Yrs 200FC, after a solid heat swim
performance he finished well ahead of his original entry time.

Kyle Stolk (NAC, Leinster), in the fastest heat, delivered a well controlled swim to qualify in fastest for the final. The Final however looked like it would be a different affair based on entry times. Next up was the girls 100BC with Anastasia Kychygina (Templeogue SC,

Leinster) who finished just outside her entry time, but in 14th place overall. Katrin
Kychygina (Templeogue SC, Leinster) swimming in a slow heat, finished well ahead of
her entry time and in 15th place overall, with a strong swim. After the week’s early
success, Ronan Anderson (Sligo SC, Connaught) finished just outside his entry time in
the 100BS, but in 14th place overall. 11Yr Old Lydia Kehoe (New Ross, Leinster) had a
superb heat swim in her 100BS and qualified for the final in 3rd place. In the final two heat swims of the morning, David O’Sullivan (Galway SC,
Connaught) delivered a 12th place swim in the 100BF narrowly missing the final, and Kyle Stolk (NAC, Leinster) qualified in 7th spot.

The final finals session for the team continued to be in line with the others of
the week with Kyle Stolk leading the way in the 200FC to cap a medal hat-trick
with a Gold medal performance in a tight finish to add to his Gold in the 100 and
Silver in the 400. Lydia Kehoe delivered another sub PB performance to finish in
7th in a tightly contested 100BS final for the 11Yr old. Once again Stolk returned
to the finals line up to deliver a 5th place finish in the 14Yr olds 100BF.
This has been a great week for the TEAM in total with some excellent swims in a
tough competition environment. All athletes learnt something this week and no
