Brian Farrell wins Rathfarnham WSAF 5km Road Race

Sunday 7th October ’07 There was a high quality field in this years Rathfarnham WSAF 5km Road Race and it showed in the last hundred metres, with a battle between three athletes for the line. Brian Farrell of Slí Cualann came away victorious with an impressive time of 14.18, Alan OShea of Bantry was just a second off in 14.19 and Michael Clohissey was third in 14.21 and led the Raheny Shamrocks Senior Men Team to the Team Prize. Vinny Mulvey came home in 4th place in 14.32 and Eoin Flynn was the first of the home club, Rathfarnham WSAF in 5th place with 14.46. Rathfarnham WSAF mens Senior team were second, Paul Fleming in 8th place and Gearoid OConnor in 14th place. David Rooney and Gavin O’Sullivan of Raheny finished in 6th and 7th place and Raheny Shamrocks B team were third. Deirdre Byrne of Sli Cualann won the Ladies race in a time of 16.08 just ahead of the course record holder and Olympian, Maria McCambridge, who finished in 16.13. Pauline Curley was third in 16.25.
