break out the deckchairs, break out the flasks of soup, break out the voices… come support the brave on March 4th

Will they hold out, or will they ring out? On March 4th 2012 Mornington beach in County Meath will once more be turned into an Elite Arena testing the physical and mental will power of the brave souls that face the bitterly cold Irish Sea and the bitingly cold Irish North Easterly wind in four hours of arduous physical output that will see everyone meet themselves for the first time.

Picture it as the beach is converted into a Military field with men and women in desert DPM uniforms urging, beasting and torturing men and women in white t-shirts and black shorts to break the bodies down only to rebuild them again and create an unbeatable spirit that will see only the few resisting ringing LT’s ship’s bell three times to be released from the relentless batering of body exercises, cold air, hunger pangs, wet clothes, sand in places your own mother wouldn’t look and pain like nothing you have ever experienced before…

It’s the Hellweek PT™ Selection Challenge and this March is Class 008’s turn to take to the Quarterdeck and fight the urge to ring the ship’s bell and quit!

There is nothing better than support and encouragement in the forms of shouts, claps and screams from the public while you undergo something as taxing as this. We are encouraging the general public to come along to Mornington Beach on Sunday March 4th and witness a spectacle you will only see here on this coastline of Ireland, 100+ men and women of varying fitness levels fighting it out to last the four hours through the nasty Irish Sea and cold, cold, cold Irish North Easterly winds as we said.

So, come out and encourage those brave men and women crazy enough to take this challenge on, bring your cameras, bring your voices, bring your smiles and most of all, bring the coffee and tea and sandwiches to tease the candidates while they work hard knowing the only way they can get a bite to eat is to ring the bell and quit!!

Actually, better yet, bring a deck chair, set it up in front of the Quarterdeck 2 hours into the event and then break out the hot soup, bread and afterwards the lovely tea and scones… sit their, lapping it all up in your lovely warm clothing and big snug coat and scarf and laugh loudly as the brave men and women in white t-shirts and black shots endure the close the freezing conditions, all in the name of self improvement and beating the challenge!

Don’t be shy now, bring the kids down, take the dog out for a walk, get the partner out of the house for an hour or so and drop by to shout words of encouragement to the candidates and urge them on. If nothing else, you will witness something so special you will be in awe of what you see.

Mornington Beach, County Meath, Sunday March 4th, from 1100hrs – 1500hrs…

Sure what else would you be doing of a Sunday? =)
