Does the idea of running while surrounded by some of Ireland’s most breathtaking beauty appeal to you? Do you like to spend warm, sunny, summer days on the beach? Well look no further. The Brandon Bay half marathon & 10k run, Ireland’s first & only running event entirely run on a beach, will take place in Maharees, Castlegregory, Co. Kerry on Saturday 12th July at 9am, and entry is now open!
This unique event will take place on the golden sands of one of Ireland’s longest beaches as it wraps around Brandon Bay, under Ireland’s second highest peak the majestic Mt. Brandon & the Slieve Mish mountains. Participants will complete both distances along the wide open beach, with an ‘out and back’ course which will both start & finish in the famous Maharees peninsula. The event is being organised to coincide with the hugely popular annual Castlegregory Summer Festival which means there will also be a wide range of exciting events going on around the area to provide fun for all the family. All proceeds go to local community projects.
