Hello all A few announcements etc today.
The Grant Thornton race went off well last Saturday at Firhouse, despite windy conditions and the competing attractions of another 10k race at Adamstown. My personal thanks to all those who came along to run or to help out.
Golf: If you are a golfer, you will be interested to know of the first BHAA golf outing – at the K Club (Smurfit course) no less. Gerry Byrne (K Club race organiser) and Charlie Cronin are organising the outing on Sunday 3rd October 2010 at 10.30am. It is open to golfers of all standards and the cost of the round of golf plus a three course meal is only €70. It will be a team event with mixed teams of three. If you want to attend, you can be placed in a team. Charlie is trying to firm up the numbers this week so if you are interested, contact him for more information on golf@bhaa.ie.
Half marathon: The Lifestyle Sports adidas BHAA half marathon will be held on Saturday 18th September 2010. Entries are now closed. This is a BHAA race and, like all the race series races, we have a commitment to provide a large group of stewards for this race. We still need people for Saturday so can you please consider helping out if you have not previously done so. Contact volunteers@bhaa.ie to volunteer.
Next races:
The Teachers race marks the opening of our cross-country season on Saturday 9th October 2010 at 11.00am. The usual location of Castleknock College. Men’s race will be 4 miles and the women’s race will be 2 miles. More details at https://www.bhaa.ie/members/app/event/index/tag/teachers2010.
The Lifestyle Sports adidas Dublin marathon will be held on bank holiday Monday 25th October 2010 and I hope training is going well for anyone who has entered.
After that, we will have the Bank of Ireland 6k beach race at Dollymount in November.
And finally a plug for my own club’s race: The Rathfarnham AC 5k race and fun run takes place on Sunday 26th September at 10.00am. If you need a short blast to clear your lungs, this might be for you. More info at the Rathfarnham website here.
That’s all for now. I will give you a wave and a cheer if I see you in the Phoenix Park on Saturday.
