Ballycarney Charity 10K

0

This race, organised by us, Jane and Graham Porter, was run for the first time in January of last year as a bit of fun after the winter snows. Everybody loved the course and the craic afterwards in the Ballycarney Inn. So by popular demand we are organising it again on a slightly bigger scale and this year it is being run in aid of Oxfam Ireland. All profits from the race will go to Oxfam.

A Big thank you to My Sport, Castle St, Enniscorthy (www.mysport.ie) for their sponsorship of the race.

The 10K course starts in Ballycarney village and follows the banks of the River Slaney on a quiet country road heading to the N11 at Scarawalsh. After a very brief loop on the N11/N80 the course goes over the old Scarawalsh Bridge before rejoining the outward route for the last 4 K. It is a fast course with only some short bumps to contend with.

Registration will be at the Ballycarney Inn, with parking in the car park and its environs.  Pre entered runners numbers can be collected up to 2.30pm. Entry on the day, (subject to availibility) costs €15 and will be open up to 2.15pm. Please note there is a 600 metre jog to the start line.

After the race there will be tea/coffee and sandwiches in the Ballycarney Inn for all entrants along with prize giving. There will be a prize for the first three men and women and spot prizes throughout the field.
As the purpose of the race (apart from giving you a super course and a bit of craic) is to raise funds for charity there will be NO teeshirts or medals. All profits from the race go to Oxfam Ireland.
