from the AAI A full complement of Atheltics Ireland Level 2 coaches registered to take part in the first Coach Education course run jointly in Ireland by Athletics Ireland and the IAAF.
The photo shows the group with IAAF Tutor Ralph Mouchbahani on their lunch break on Day 1 of the first part of the course, which began on Weds October 12th in Portlaoise and continues each day until Sunday October 16th.
The first 5 days are theory, common to all event areas, and the ‘specialist’ areas of the coaches taking part ranged from Walks to Throws to Endurance to Sprints, Hurdles and Jumps. Coaches felt the first day was challenging but very interesting, and made all the better by the diversity of interests of the participants.
There are two more parts to this course, both 4 days in duration which include practical assessments and written exams.
