Athletics Ireland Announce Relay Teams For Upcoming Internationals

4×400 relay teams announced Athletics Ireland are pleased to announce 4×400 relay teams for two internationals in the coming weeks. The women’s 4×400m relay team will compete in Primo Nebiolo Memorial meeting on Friday 5th June. National record holder Joanne Cuddihy is unavailable due to a knee injury but is expected to recover in time for the European Cup. Karen Shinkins DCH makes a comeback to international athletics after retiring in 2007. Brona Furlong of Slaney Olympic is rewarded for a personal best performance in the Bedford Games. Thomas Chamney (Crusaders) will also compete in Turin in the 800m with Deirdre Ryan (DSD) looking to continue her return to form in the high jump.

The men’s team will compete in Namur, Belgium on the 14th June. David Gillick D.S.D will lead the team with Brian Doyle Finn Valley A.C. earning a call up due to his recent good form. Schools sensation Brian Gregan will travel as a reserve gaining experience for the first time at senior level.
