Written by John Quigley (Eagle Athletic Club website) Five Eagles took part in Amsterdam today. Grellan McGrath went the the Marathon, while Rhona and Tadgh Lynch, along with Siobhan Murphy and Austin Browne ran in the Half-Marathon. Grellan McGrath was our sole representative in the Amsterdam Marathon and finished in 2051st place in 3:46:44.
Austin Browne was our first runner home in the Half-Marathon,finishing in 46th place and a time of 1:21:13. Rhona Lynch next, finishing as 9th woman, in 124th place and a time of 1:26:01. Rhona’s husband Tadgh was next, in 463rd place, 1:33:29, while Rhona’s sister, Siobhan Murphy, was next in 2449th place, 1:48:09.
Other noteworthy Cork competitors were St Finbarr’s Angela McEvoy, who finished 833rd place in the Maratho, 3:21:19, which was good enough to give her second place in the F45 category.
Leevale’s Nollaigh Hunter went in the Half-Marathon, finishing in 190th place, in 1:28:01.
A large West Waterford AC contingent also took part.
