Saturday 15th May 2010 “Mayo’s fun cycle”
Allow yourself to rediscover the joys of cycling by taking part in this fun event that is suitable for all levels of cycling ability. Participants in this event will complete a circuit of Lough Mask at their own pace, while enjoying the natural beauty of the area. So if you need something to motivate you to get fit, why not come along on the day.
The route for the Lap of the Mask is a 64km circuit of the lake, which is well within the capabilities of anyone who is of reasonable fitness. Cyclists will start out at Ballinrobe, cycle to Partry where they will head for Tourmakeady along the north shore of the Lough. There is a food stop after Tourmakeady. The second half of the route will take cyclists to Finny and into Clonbur, before heading back into Ballinrobe. For anyone who would like to “go the extra mile”, they can take in Head of the Mask after Finny, which brings the event distance up to 71km.

The routes will be fully marked and marshalled, with support vehicles patrolling the route during the event. Refreshments will be available at halfway and again at the finish. Sign-on/registration will be at Western Lakes Cycling Centre, Kilmaine Road, Ballinrobe from 9.30am. The event starts at 11am.

In the meantime take the bike out of the garage and get it, and your legs, into action! On the day, make sure your bike is in good working order, get a helmet, puncture repair kit, a pump, and join us for a fun day around the beautiful Lough Mask!
