from the AAI The Woodie’s DIY Master Indoor Championships of Ireland are taking place this Sunday, 15th of January in Nenagh Indoor stadium. Master athletes from all over the country will descend on the indoor arena to compete for the National titles.
Age categories start from the men’s and women’s O35 age group, and continues all the way up to the men’s O80 category. An athlete may compete in a maximum of 5 events. The action begins at 11.30am with the 3,000m walk for both the men and women. The programme will conclude with the women’s and men’s 200m. It must be noted that at the 2011 version of these championships Bobby King (St. Coca’s AC) set a new world O65 age group record with a time of 15:19.02 in the 3,000m walk.
These championships have previously produced exciting competition and enthralling battles across all age groups. The remarkable camaraderie and friendship between the athletes is what makes this event so special.
The 2012 event will be one to remmeber as our Master athletes compete for glory to claim the national titles.
