from IMRA The provisional 2009 calendar is now up on the website. There are still a few details to be ironed out, but the major structure of the calendar and the majority of the races are now fully in place. A number of new races are on the menu (Annacurra, Clohernagh, Powerscourt Uphill), some old favourites return (Galtees, Slievenamon), some “neo-classics” made it back in (Ballybraid, Mt. Leinster, Hellfire* Brimstone, Mangerton) and most of the old favourites are still there (all the rest!).
A new championship is also born this year with the Wicklow Way Ultra, a race that is TBD, and the Dublin Peaks constituting a Long Distance Trophy.
The Committee would like to thank the sub-committee of Barry Minnock, Peter O’Farrell and Race-Coordinator Turlough Conway who did the brunt work on the new calendar before its review by the Committee and to the members of the out-going Committee who helped finalise the calendar at the annual handover meeting.
Should anyone notice any obvious mistakes, please contact me at rene dot borg at imra dot ie. We will review the calendar for mistakes over the coming days, but should you discover some and save us the time, I would much appreciate it.
Enjoy!
