Following on from the success of the Windmill Run 2013, preparations are well underway to make the 2014 run even better.
The route proved to be both enjoyable and challenging. The scenic course around Garristown takes in the historical windmill and plenty of views of the surrounding counties from some of the elevated parts of the run. Participants came from all corners of the country, along with runners from as far as the USA! The event began with a warm-up session, followed by a pre-race briefing, before runners lined up to start the inaugural Garristown race. For an inaugural race, the numbers were well in excess of expectations. Weather conditions were in our favour and many runners managed to beat their PB’s, despite the tricky hills!
We are expecting the entrant numbers to surpass last year’s 250+ runners, with the event winners returning to defend their titles, as well as running clubs taking on the repeated challenge. Newcomers and experienced runners are all guaranteed an exhilarating run and a memorable experience
