Congratulations to all runners who completed Saturday’s WILD WEST RUN between Kenmare and Killarney! The 13.1m trail mountain run was both spectaclular and challenging in equal measure. Everyone completed the course and, thankfully, there were only a few cuts and bruises to report.
It was fab to see so many runners in Killarney in the evening – the feedback was appreciated –as was the Guinness!
Hats off to the ‘teak tough’ James Doran, race winner in 1:34min – unbelievable time. Simon Mangan was second just one minute behind, and Gerry o Sullivan made it third.
Fiona Devane was the he winner of the girls race – 1:55min, three minutes behind came Rachel Nolan and then Ann Marie Egan.
In truth, all runners deserve the plaudits as we know how tough the course is – an what a start!!
WILD WEST RUN would like to thank Kenmare AC, Gneeveguilla AC, An Riocht AC and Spa-Muckross AC for all their wonderful efforts. The Irish Red Cross in the shape of Tim and Bernadette were superb as was the help of the National Parks Management Team. Galvins Coaches, Dunmanway helped with the race transfers and on the ground in Killarney, Mr Billy Tangney, did a mountain of work. Thanks to John Lenihan and Breda Barrett – tireless and ever helpful!
€625 will be going to our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children this week – we’ll be getting a signed Kerry jersey to the hospital too which will be used in a raffle, local hero and star footballer Colm Cooper will do the honours – that will help with the coffers – all runners should be understandably proud.
Pictures and live footage will be going online later this week
Well done!!!!!!!!!
