Race Report: Sperrins Duathlon Race 3
Saturday saw a windy cold start at Lough Fea Cookstown which was the setting for the finals of the Sperrins duathlon. The race went off with a short delay but first into T1 was Sean McFadden followed by Adam Speer and Peter Savage. Out on the windy bike course McFadden had pulled away from the chasing pack of Savage & Speers and Dempsey set himself up for the day to take the win in a time of 00:58:30 – the only athlete to go under the hour. Second place went to Peter Savage and Jonathan Dempsey took 3rd. As this was a 3 race series, after mechanical problems for Sean McFadden in the first race, which lead to a DNF, meant Adam Speer taking the mens overall title.
In the womens race we had Anne Paul who won the previous 2 races just having to finish but Anne showing her true athletic ability lead the race from the start to take a hatrick and making her the womens Sperrin Duathlon Champion. Ann was closely followed by Kay Hack in 2nd overall in the championship and 3rd place on the day went to Judith Lowery.
Tri- Limits would like to thank everybody who took part in the series and to all the people who helped out behind the scenes and we look forward to seeing you all in the Tri-Limits Evening Duathlons. Tri-Limits would also like to wish Anne Paul all the best in her preperations for the Ironman Hawaii.
