From IMRA A not so subtle reminder that IMRA is a voluntary organisation run by its members for its members. Without volunteers races simply cannot go ahead. At present it looks like Bray Head will not go ahead unless more people volunteer as helpers and in particular Race Director, Deputy Race Director and Race Marker. Similarly Howth requires at least four more volunteers, Hellfire & Brimstone another five, Three Rock another five…
You don’t need any experience to volunteer as helper and if you have done a few races you should be well able to do role of Race Director, or at least Deputy.
I know from experience how much effort the committee puts into IMRA so they cannot be expected fill in the gaps left by members not volunteering, simply put if people do not volunteer races will not go ahead. Without going down the name and shame route it is interesting to note that of the 30+ members that have run five or more races already this year only one third have volunteered to help out in any of this years races.
So if you have still to volunteer please do so now before races have to be cancelled.
