from Athletic Northern Ireland website Antrim Forum, Saturday 15thNovember, was the venue for the first winter series of Ulster/Athletics Northern Ireland Regional Development squad sessions of the 2008/09 season.
Forty five invited young athletes from the East of the province attended and enjoyed kind weather for the event specific section when expert coaching was delivered by Coaches John McGeever/Richard Tsang, Sprints/Jumps; Gareth Hill, Middle Distance; Paul Fitzpatrick, Walks; Elaine McCaffrey, Sprints; Jackie McKiernan, Shot/Discus and Eamon Harvey Javelin
Guest speaker, former Olympian Jackie McKernan and Manger of the recently successful Northern Ireland team at the Commonwealth Youth Games in India took the group through the fundamentals of planning for competition via a very enjoyable inter action session.
Concluding Athletics Ireland, R.D.O. Eamon Harvey, thanked all the athletes, parents and personal coaches for supporting the regional squad day and the coaches for their expertise in delivering the event specific section of the day.
